Possible claims
- Third Trimester First Partial module
- Third Trimester Full module
- Third Trimester Last Partial module
Relevant clause is Section 88 - DA22
(2) None of these fees may be claimed if the woman was registered with the maternity provider, but changed maternity provider before the start of the 30th week of pregnancy.
(3) A maternity provider may claim only the first partial fee if the woman was registered with the maternity provider, but changed maternity provider before the start of the 34th week of pregnancy.
(4) A maternity provider may claim only the last partial fee if the woman first registered with the maternity provider after the end of the 34th week of pregnancy.
(5) If subclauses (2) to (4) do not apply, the maternity provider may claim the full fee.
The Ministry of Health defines the third trimester as the beginning of the 29th week of pregnancy until established labour.
Under the Notice, the full fee, the first partial fee or the last partial fee may be claimed, as the case may require. The module is designed to compensate a maternity provider’s time and effort during over the course of a woman’s third trimester period. None of the fees apply between 28-30 weeks of pregnancy.
Example of a 3rd trimester first partial payment:
- A woman registers with a maternity provider at 30.1 but she decides to change providers at 33.3 weeks.
Example of a 3rd trimester last partial payment:
- A woman registers with a maternity provider at 34.1 weeks and remains with her LMC until delivery
Example of a full payment:
- A woman registers with a maternity provider at 32.4 weeks and remains with her LMC until delivery
It is important to note the only one module can be claimed per woman per maternity provider. For example, if a woman registered with a provider at 16 weeks, moves to another city before 32 weeks, and then returns to the original provider at 36 weeks, two payments cannot be claimed. The third trimester first partial or third trimester last partial may only be claimed.
