Tiaki Scribe writes up your visit notes while you focus on māmā and her pēpi. Built in Aotearoa, with midwives, for midwives.
What is Tiaki Scribe

Tiaki Scribe is an AI assistant that turns your recorded visit into a draft clinical note, written in midwifery language and structured the way your notes should be. With the woman's informed consent, you simply record the visit, then review, edit and approve the summary.

You stay in full control. Every summary is a draft until you approve it, and Tiaki Scribe doesn't give clinical advice or make decisions. It isn't used for labour or birth documentation.

Tiaki Scribe (powered by Whio) was developed in Aotearoa by MMPO with Make Collective and Te Hiku Media, guided by working LMC midwives.

It's simple and easy to use

  1. Request informed consent to record the kōrero from māmā upon arrival at your visit (the app reminds you).
  2. Tap Start visit and carry out the visit as usual.
  3. Tap End visit, then select your māmā and the visit type.
  4. Review, edit and approve the draft summary.
  5. Copy it into BadgerNet or the system you use.
Made for community midwives

Tiaki Scribe is built for registered community midwives in Aotearoa, whatever your caseload, setting or stage of career. Midwives of all ages are using it, in urban and rural practice, from new graduates to midwives with decades of experience.

"I feel I've been able to get back to just being a midwife and not so much about the paperwork. It's not just about the time saved. It's actually about being available, and to me that's as valuable, or more."

Sheryl Joy Christian, community midwife

Why use Tiaki Scribe?
  • Be present at every visit.
No more breaking up your visit to write notes or carrying an iPad from room to room. Your attention stays with the woman and her whānau.
  • Save time, every visit.
Midwives tell us it saves at least five minutes a visit, and hours of after-hours documentation each week. In many cases, it's much more.
  • Return on investment ($$)
Tiaki Scribe saves around five minutes a visit, which is worth $6.25 of your time (at the standard midwifery rate of $75 an hour). So, just 8 visits recover the monthly subscription cost. At 16 visits a week, that’s less than one week of midwifery care.
  • Notes in midwifery language.
Summaries are structured the way your clinical notes should be, so they're consistent and complete.
  • Works in real home visits.
It handles everyday background noise, including children playing nearby.
  • Whānau are on board.
Māmā and whānau tell midwives they feel listened to. As one midwife hears from her māmā: "If it means you can talk to me, yes."
